Drammen city archive was established on 1 January 2007 and is a municipal archive institution for Drammen. The main task is to preserve, make available and disseminate municipal archives and private archives for Drammen and the former municipality of Skoger, which was merged with Drammen in 1964. The inventory as of 20 August 2012 was approx. 4,000 shelf metres. Of this, the majority are municipal archives from the period from 1760 to 2008, but with the main emphasis on the period after1837. The first deposit from the archive contains historical films from Drammen shot by the late Robert Halvorsen.
