Lindley Armstrong “Spike” Jones was an American musician and bandleader specializing in spoof arrangements of popular songs and classical music. Ballads receiving the Jones treatment were punctuated with gunshots, whistles, cowbells, hiccups, burps, and outlandish and comedic vocals. Utah Valley University (UVU) is a public university in Orem, Utah, that is engaged in digital preservation education and activities. UVU have done a project where they archived and digitally preserved the extensive collection of music written by Spike Jones, who captivated audiences in the 1940s. With the main objective of this project to share this audio, storing it in AWA means it can also be shared with future generations.
