Christian Clauwers is a Belgian photographer, explorer, public speaker and author. His work covers the world’s oceans and the polar regions whilst focusing on documenting the vulnerable relation and potential conflict between man and nature. Clauwers scouts the least explored corners of the planet, places which are often hostile, dark, wild, and uninviting, in his quest to reveal their truth. During his expeditions, Clauwers observes the relationship between man and nature from a number of perspectives.
Sea Walls & Mangrove Trees in the Pacific Region includes visually documenting affected island communities within the “Sea Walls & Mangrove Trees in the Pacific Region” project. The focus is on climate change and global warming, and how vulnerable islands are adapting to this critical issue.
This photo project is of great importance because some Pacific atolls and island nations will completely disappear by the end of the 21st century. These photographs bear witness to the greatest crisis in human existence.
