Proven Technology Behind AWA

Discover piqlFilm – an immutable, non-electric, and migration-free data storage solution engineered to protect information against physical and digital threats.

Explore the Technology +

piqlFilm is a photosensitive optical film developed by Piql AS. Data is written to the film as high-density QR-like codes and, where useful, as human-readable images and text.

The film is passive and offline: it needs no electricity to keep the data, cannot be hacked or altered once written, and is immune to electromagnetic pulses. It has documented longevity of more than 1,000 years.

The instructions for decoding the data are written in plain text on the film itself, so the information can be recovered with nothing more than a light source and a camera – no proprietary software, no migration to new formats.
