The UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) International Register deposited in the Arctic World Archive (AWA) contains world-significant, historical records — from film and epic poetry to government records from memory institutions based in all continents. The list is a testimony of the journey of human knowledge in all areas: international relations, human rights, music, cinema, philosophy, religion, linguistics, science – to mention just a few.

UNESCO launched the Memory of the World (MoW) Programme in 1992 to guard against the collective amnesia, calling upon the preservation of the valuable archive holdings and library collections all over the world and ensuring their wide dissemination, preservation and accessibility.
